Ayo ninyong tanan!
Ako si Elijah. I am not fluent in Cebuano nor Binisaya. I was born in Cebu City, but I moved to America when I was 6. I'm 18 now. I have been trying my best to learn the language this year. I'm very into languages and linguistics. I can speak French and Spanish at a B1 level and a lot of other languages at lower levels, but I digress lol
Anyway, I have looked at Wikipedia's Cebuano Grammar Page and studied a lot from it. I also looked through the sources at the bottom of the page and ADDED to the page FROM these sources.
It's sad to see a language spoken by millions of people have so little accessible resources and such an obscure grammar that its people barely know themselves. They seem to care so much about just being understood rather than knowin why they say it the way they do. I'm not here to criticize my fellow Bisaya people, I'm actually here to try and encourage you all to try and understand the grammar and what you say! <3
I'd love to create a grammar book and AN APP for Cebuano/Binisaya. For now, I ask that you guys check Wikipedia's Cebuano Grammar Page and tell me if there are any mistakes in it or things that you would change or you don't understand, etc. I want to learn and ALSO teach! This is something I'm passionate about because it's my heritage language and I'm sure you're all passionate about it as well! I just ask for help and encouragement with this Wikipedia Page and to understanding Cebuano Grammar. The wikipedia page is NOT finished and there are many things that need to be added.
Something I very much believe in is Austronesian Alignment. I believe that Cebuano/Binisaya has Austronesian Alignment. Please check that out as well.
Daghan salamat ninyong tanan!
